We’ve seen a lot of stuff on sale but I ended up buying regular items! 🙁 I finally bought my dress in Tango… It’s just simple yet elegant! Oh by the way, did I mentioned it’s expensive too??!! LOL.. I hate myself! 🙁

Today, is All Soul’s Day. This is the day when we commemorate all of our faithful departed and now in Purgatory. This is often confused by All Saints day which was celebrated yesterday in honor of all the Saints. Philippines, where majority of the population are Catholics, practice going to the cemetery to visit their loved ones. I on the other hand, will just stay home today because all of our departed are in the province! Hope I could get some rest today after reporting for work for 6 straight days! 🙂
These past few years, we’ve been watching a lot of TV series from the US. Some of our favorites are Heroes, Grey’s Anatomy, Smallville and now we’ve been hooked up with Glee! 🙂 Don’t you just hate it when you’re missing some episodes?! Or if there are movies that you love to watch but you just don’t have all the time to watch all of them?! Can’t wait for it to be released on DVD?! Well, this won’t be a problem if you’re subscribed to Charter Digital. They have this On Demand service and what’s nice about it is it’s free! You get to watch your favorite shows again the next day that it was aired on TV. This would greatly help all moms like me because they don’t have to argue with their children when will Dora show up at Nick or when will Mickey shows up at Playhouse Disney. Sometimes children can be really buggy and demanding but I guess they know what they want! Some of the channels are on HD too so you can have great viewing experience if you have your HD TV!
Isn’t it great to have all access to your favorite movies and TV shows?! You can subscribe now so you could get all these perks! 🙂 You can learn more at charter.net/ondemand if you want to do further reading. Or you can get updates and fun extras on Charter’s Facebook page .

It’s been 1 year and 10 months since my baby was born. I’m proud to say that she has been purely breastfed for 1 whole year! Some say that breastfeeding is hard to do but if if you really love your child, you’ll do everything! Sure, there are a lot of sacrifices but everything will be worth it if you’ll see all of it’s benefits!
These are some of them:
1. Saves money – you don’t have to buy expensive store brand formula .
2. Gives you all the convenience – you don’t have to wake up early in the morning to prepare milk so you could feed your baby. You don’t have to wash and sterilize bottles.
3. You’ll have a healthy baby because of the anti bodies that she receives from the mom. This also saves you from frequent visits to the doctor which in turn, saves time and money.
4. Saves your baby suffer from constipation because breastmilk disolves faster.
5. This is an excellent way to give the baby and mom the time to bond.
6. Reduced risk of pre-menopausal breast cancer.
7. It also acts as a contraceptive during the early months of breastfeeding.
Fortunately, there’s WIC (Women, Infants and Children) program in the US who are aiming to increase breastfeeding rates among families. They are reallocating the funds provided for food, juices and vegetables including infant formulas. So parents should buy their own formula if they have been provided before by WIC.
I’m proud to announce that www.roamingmum.com will be my new blog site! I’ve been having a lot of thinking lately and I finally decided to come back to the blogosphere! 🙂 I’ll still try to post on this site but be sure to add my new domain in your blogroll!
It’s been 3 days since Typhoon Ondoy struck the Metro. We have our own stories / experiences about this tragedy. Probably something that we can’t forget for the rest of our lives! I don’t know what’s with me but I’m always in the office every time something bad happens! From earthquakes, flood inside the pantry, fire in the basement and now this…
I reported for work last Saturday (Sept. 26, 2009) even if it’s raining. I really don’t have any idea that there is a storm coming! My hubby just escorted me to the office since it’s his day off. We were not aware of what’s happening outside until one of my agents went home because of the situation of his family. One by one, my agents called their families to check on their status and it wasn’t good! Flood is rising fast every minute… I also called home and fortunately, they’re doin’ ok. I called my parents in Cavite and they were also doin’ fine so it was a big relief for me! Around 2pm (my logout time), I decided to just stay in the office. There was no where to go. Agents from other accounts reported that they were already in 20th ave. but the jeepney went back and dropped them off to Eastwood because the way to Cubao is no longer passable. While waiting for my office mate’s log out time, I stared at the Marikina River behind our building as it slowly swallow the houses down. Praying for the river to stop flowing! This is the first time I’ve seen such a horrible sight! There were washing machines, fridge and roofs streaming along the strong current.
Around 4pm, me and my office mates went to Yellow Cab to eat. We were unable to see the effects of Ondoy to Eastwood but the guards says that our other building, TechnoPlaza One’s basement parking is already full of flood that came from the river. It even reached Techno’s lobby! We went back to the office around 5pm and the river went higher! It swept almost all of the houses beside the river! During this time, all systems are down in the office. No phone lines and lights are only running on generator. I can’t remember the time wherein the lights went pitch dark! There were 8 of us who were stranded in the office (Ken, Apple, Lawrence, Kakee, Ric, Tex and Jerome). We went to 7-11 to get our dinner because all of the restaurants are closed! After buying our dinner, we went back to the office and stayed there trying to get sleep. Around 9:45pm, I received a call form my hubby telling me that roads are already clear and that he can come and fetch me. I was delighted to know that I’ll be home and be with my baby soon… 🙂 My hubby arrived past 10pm. We dropped off Ric at SandiganBayan and Tex at Mindanao Ave. I was so thankful that I am finally home but I pray for those people who were greatly affected by the flood!
Nobody’s prepared for a disaster like this but I guess God wants to remind all of us that He exists and that we should not forget about Him.

Following my previous post about my new ELBA oven… Someone called from Anson’s yesterday and said that my oven and food processor will be delivered on Tuesday instead of Monday. Pres. Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo declared September 7 as a special non-working holiday due to Ka Erdy Manalo’s burial.
Here’s the info from Inquirer:
MANILA, Philippines – President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo declared September 7 and 21 as non-working holidays, Press Secretary Cerge Remonde said Friday night.
Arroyo declared Monday next week a national day of mourning for Iglesia ni Cristo Executive Minister Eraño “Ka Erdy” Manalo, who will be buried that day, Remonde said.
“All flags will be flown at half-mast,” he said in a text message to reporters.
I’m not a member of INC but I’ll send my condolences to the family of Ka Erdy. Fortunately, September 8 is Mama Mary’s birthday! So it’s still a good thing for me after all! 🙂
As part of my baking agenda, I attended Heny Sison’s Cake Decorating 1 last July 13 – 14. This is a 2-day workshop wherein you will learn the basics of cake decorating such as the star, shell, dots, outline and scallop borders. This also includes figure piping of rose, booties, clowns and dove. You will learn how to make royal icing and boiled icing then use them in decorating your own character cake! I was stuck in decorating Minnie’s head because someone stole my pan! Among the cakes that our class decorated, Oscar and Garfield are my favorites!
My hubby and I looked for an oven yesterday. We already sold our existing La Germania Gas Range because we wanted to have a bigger oven. Since we’re buying this new oven for our home business, we carefully weighed our options, either we get a bakery type oven or an ELBA gas range! There is actually a Php44K price difference between the two but both of us chose the ELBA instead! It’s not only it is stylish but because it has a lot of features than the bakery type oven! Like it has5 burners, automatic safety features, rotisserie and more…
I’m so excited, I can’t wait for Monday! ‘Coz it’s the day when my new oven and food processor will be delivered! 🙂 Just to give you an idea, here’s what it looks like.
We were able to purchase the range for Php 57600 and the Moulinex Food Processor for Php 7995 in Anson’s (in front of Podium.
I just had my chocolate artistry class today at Heny Sison. I was 30 mins. late because it was pouring hard this morning! I really enjoyed this class because there’s only 3 of us! Heny’s chocolate artistry class is worth Php 2K but it’s worth it. You get to learn the brief history of chocolates and you will make different types of chocolate candies like chocolate lollipops, 3d hollow, molded chocolates and chocolate house. But the one I like the most is the chocolate truffles! Mmmmm…. YUMMY! 🙂
This is a hands-on activity so be ready to get your hands dirty! The best part is, you get to take home these yummy treats! 😉
Around 3:18am this morning, former President Corazon Aquino passed away due to cardiac arrest. She was diagnosed to have colon cancer last March 2008 and was treated with chemotherapy in one of the hospitals in Manila. Her son said that the cancer had spread to her other organs and she was too weak to continue her chemotherapy. She died at the age of 76.
Maria Corazon Cojuangco was born on Jan. 25, 1933 in Paniqui, Manila. She was married to the late Senator Benigno Aquino, Jr. which gave her 5 children. A son, Benigno Simeon Aquino III , Maria Elena A. Cruz, Aurora Corazon A. Abellada, Victoria Eliza A. Dee, and Kristina Bernadette A. Yap. She led the people power revolution last 1986 which ended the 20-yr. regime of Ferdinand Marcos. This gave her the way to become the first female president in the Philippines and in Asia.
Post your yellow ribbons now to show support and condolences for the Aquino family. May she rest in peace!
Last June 15, ’09, our family went to The Ark – Avilon Zoo in Tiendesitas, Ortigas. This is not the same as the Avilon Zoo found in Montalban, Rizal. This is Nicole’s first trip to the zoo so we’re all excited!
When we arrived there, Nicole was still sleeping so we took our lunch first in Blue Whale. Unfortunately, we are not satisfied with the food. They have very small serving so it’s not worth the price!
We went to the zoo after eating, just in time that Nicole is awake! She was very excited with all of the animals specially with the tiger, leopard and the orangutan! We also tried feeding the rabbits and hamsters! Warning: Be careful for animal bites if you’re wearing slippers! Boy! Those little creatures are really hungry. As if they haven’t eaten for years! 🙂 They finisehed eating a piece of carrot within1-2 mins.!
We were just in time for the orangutan picture taking so we used our camera and the trainer took this pic for us! The good thing is it’s FREE. :p
Adults = Php 250
Kids (1yr. old above) = Php 200
After my Cake Decorating class in Heny’s yesterday, I went straight to Trinoma to meet my hubby so we could watch Ice Age 3: Dawn of the Dinosaurs! After our experience with Eastwood’s Ultra 7 cinema, we tried Trinoma’s 3D Digital Cinema! We enjoyed Ice Age 1 & 2 so now, we can’t miss part 3 of this movie! 🙂
Before you enter, they will give you 3D glasses, which will make your movie viewing more enjoyable! The movie itself was hilarious! Plus the experience of watching it in 3D makes you think as if you can touch the characters! 😉 Just be sure you give the glasses back!
While I’m searching the net, I grabbed these pictures from Animetric’s blog. We weren’t able to sit on the reclining chairs on the top row ‘coz I didn’t know they have one. I think watching the movie from the regular seats is just the same than the one on top.
Converting cinema 4 is a nice move for Trinoma, since SM malls already have IMAX! I still haven’t tried IMAX and Gateway’s Platinum cinema. Will surely try those next time! 🙂 For Php 300 you can get a different movie experience! So try it here and see the difference. 🙂
After almost 2 years of not watching a movie in a theatre, my hubby and I treated ourselves yesterday in watching Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen in the new Eastwood Mall’s Cinema Ultra 7! It’s such a great coincidence because the last movie that we watched in a theatre was Transformers 1! 🙂
Watching in Ultra 7 is quite pricey (Php 401/ticket) but the ambience is superb! You get to sit in their purple lazy boy’s reclining chair plus unlimited drinks and popcorn! Unfortunately, they only have sodas & water for the drinks and have 3 popcorn flavors (plain, cheese and bbq). Honestly, we didn’t eat that much popcorn because we’re too engrossed watching the movie!
After watching, we took our dinner in The Old Vine by: Chef’s Quarters. We ordered for soup of the day (vegetable soup), french onion soup (not recommended), Churrasco Beef tenderloin, roasted chicken and ube cheesecake for dessert!
Even if my hubby was not satisfied with the story, I would say the movie was awesome! It has great graphics and special effects though I have to admit the acting is not that good… :p
It’s been a shocking day today when the whole world heard the news about Michael Jackson’s death!
He was pronounced dead at 9:26pm (EDT), June 25, after arriving in the UCLA Medicla Center due to cardiac arrest. It has been reported that the cause of death is still unknown so an autopsy would likely take place. He died at a young age of 50 (1958 – 2009) and left his 3 children Prince Michael I, Paris and Prince Michael II.
“His lifetime record sales tally was believed to be around 750 million. With his 13 Grammy Awards and boundary-breaking music videos he was one of the most successful entertainers of all time.” – Reuters
We have ALL of Michael’s albums saved in our iPod and here are some of my fave hit songs from the King of Pop:
Rock With You, Don’t stop ‘Till You get Enough, The Way You Make Me Feel & Man in the Mirror
