Before getting pregnant, loosing weight has always been a problem for me. I want to be slim but I’m so lazy to do some work out. My hubby and I even enrolled ourselves in a gym but we tend to eat more because we’re too tired and hungry! We also tried removing rice in our diet but it only lasted for 2 days! :) During my pregnancy, I gave up dieting and started to eat what’s good for me and my baby. After giving birth, I was expecting that my belly would be back to its normal shape. As other moms told me, its not going to happen overnight! :)

If I was too lazy to work out before pregnancy, what more if I have a baby to take care of??!! :) Aside from being slothful, I really didn’t have the luxury of time to do some exercises! But I’ve read from a website that you don’t need to exercise in order for you to be slim. Such method is called the Flat Belly Diet . Who would have thought that eating dark chocolates is your way to get thin?! If you think this would help you gain your confidence back, just fill up their application form and receive a free book which contains details of this program. :)

We’ll be joining another bazaar this coming December 13 - 14 at La Vista Clubhouse, Katipunan. Admission is free and you can visit us from 9am - 7pm.

Taken from: Eventions

La Vista is a high-end village with over 300 residents. The subdivision also serves as a gateway to Loyola Grand Villas (you must enter the La Vista gate to get to LGV), which is home to more than 600 families. Aside from this, the bazaar venue is strategically located near Sta. Maria Dela Strada, where over 10,000 parishioners attend mass every weekend. In the past year, we have also gotten a lot of foot traffic from the nearby villages such as Xavierville, Ayala Heights, Varsity Hills, Blue Ridge and Capitol Hills.

So come and join us in this special event!

This is the phone that I got as a promo of HSBC and SUN Cellular plan 350. It looks elegant and stylish but when you turn it on, don’t expect to see cool graphics and interface. This would be my first Samsung phone because I’ve always been a Sony Ericsson fan. I’m still getting used to navigating the menu and texting. What I love about this phone is its aesthetc features. But be careful in handling it though because it’s such a scratch and finger print magnet! :) Better protect the screen with an LCD film. The camera is also disappointing because it’s just VGA. Anyway, I already have a digicam and a handycam so this would serve just a regular phone for me. I may not get the Omnia but this will do! :)

Finally, I’m now a SUN cellular subscriber! LOL

I enrolled my hubby with HSBC last September because they have this promo wherein you can get a Samsung SGH-M620 if you apply for  a HSBC credit card. I was happy when he received his card so I asked him to activate it ASAP! We went to Megamall to claim the phone in their SUN cellular center but my hubby got irritated with their customer service. After filling up some forms, he was told by one lady to go back after an hour to get the phone. So, we strolled around cyberzone and helped my friend look for a good laptop to buy. After buying the laptop of her choice, we went back to SUN center and a different lady told him that he cannot get the phone today and that activation takes effect after 24hrs. So he walked out the center without the phone and raging mad! So as not to further aggravate him, I didn’t ask anything anymore even though I was truly disappointed.

After a few weeks, I received a call from HSBC and said that I was qualified for their RED master card. I know I already a HSBC Mabuhay Miles card, but I still agreed to apply for a RED master card. After a few weeks, I received my new card and was so happy when I saw the coupon for the Samsung SGH-M20. I activated the card the next day and I only had the chance to drop by in the SUN shop at Trinoma last Sunday. The lady who accommodated me was excellent. She answered all of my questions politely and I only waited for like 15mins. to get my phone. I only have one comment though about the lady who gave me the phone. She was talking too fast as she explains the terms and warranty of their plan. The tone was very monotonous as if she was a robot! :) Actually, I didn’t catch everything that she says! Although the graphics are not that good, I’m still happy that I have a new phone! :)

This was taken last Sunday when we went to Shangrila. I only had the time to upload it today. :) Anyway, while Nicole and I were waiting for our order in Wendy’s we were playing “show me your tongue”. Aside from her usual “beautiful eyes” act, this is her version of showing her tongue. :)

You will no longer worry if the store where you bought it from is an official reseller because we already have it here! You also get free shipping if you purchase Php 3000 and above.

What’s even better is we get to call them at 1800-1651-0525 if we have any questions. :)

This afternoon I went to Trinoma to check the prices of items that I have for the bazaar and to avail HSBC’s promo on getting a SAMSUNG M620 with Sun Cellular. On my way to SUN center, camera bags in infomaxx caught my attention as I’ve been searching for the perfect bag for our Sony HDR-SR10. I’ve checked almost all of their bags and I was torn between the one with all weather camera bag of Tamrac (Php 2500) and the Lowepro Cirrus 140 (Php 2600). I finally decided to get the Lowepro because it’s bigger than the Tamrac. It has enough room for our Handycam, Digicam and their corresponding accessories (battery, charger and  memory cards). What I love about this bag is it is very well padded. Surely, it will keep your camera safe from impact! :)

Nicole is supposed to practice swimming today. Since it’s raining, we went to Shangri-la Mall instead so we could check out the store where we bought my hubby’s rash guard. Finally, we were able to find a textile store who sell the kind of waterproof fabric that we want! That is in Bloomingdales, 4th floor of Shangri-la Mall. We’ve been wanting to make rash guards, sun shirt & bags for business but the only problem is where we could get the fabric! Not only that they have the kind of fabric that we want but their customer service is superb! :) Thanks Jennie for assisting us! :)

After Nicole fell out of our bed, she is now fond of banging her head with a remote or with her hands. I’m not sure why is she doing that.

I did some googling and baby center says:

Head banging and body rocking are normal self-comforting behaviors in babies. The rhythmic back-and-forth movements may soothe your baby and help him drift off to sleep, in the same way being rocked in a rocking chair does. Strangely enough, your baby may also bang his head to distract himself from pain — if he’s teething or has an ear infection, for example.

Head banging is surprisingly common. Up to 20 percent of babies and toddlers bang their head on purpose, although boys are three times more likely to do it than girls. Head banging often starts in the second half of the first year and peaks between 18 and 24 months of age. Your baby’s head-banging habit may last for several months, or even years, though most children outgrow it by age 3.

It seems like she’s doing it when she’s sleepy or when she’s happy. Hopefully, it would not come to a point that she would hurt herself! I just wish she would stop doing that because it’s really disturbing.

This was taken before Nicole fell out of our bed. I don’t know what’s with this pose but she’s fond of doing it. Probably she’s trying to balance her body with her head? hehehe… :)

After 10 months, today is the first time Nicole fell out of our bed. I felt so guilty because I wasn’t able to catch her in time. We were just watching TV then I placed something beside our bed (which is not far from her) then BBLLAAGG!!! She fell! I’ve seen her fell face down so she must have hit her head first. She must have been trying to reach our picture near our TV. She cried so hard so I hurriedly carried her and checked her head. After a few minutes, she stopped crying but she’s trying to let go from me and pointing to her grandpa. I gave her to my FIL but she was back in my arms after around 5 minutes. When my MIL heard about the news, she just asked what happened. I was actually expecting her to scold me like what she did with my hubby but she didn’t. I guess she was like that with my hubby because he’s her son. I was advised by my friend not to put the baby to sleep for a few hours if ever she will hit her head hard. If she puked,it’s a sign that there’s internal bleeding. I hope and I pray that  it wouldn’t come to that.

I promise that I will never leave my eyes away from my baby again. You really never know what happens next.

With the economic crisis that we’re experiencing today, we really have to check all of our expenses. Even if I receive my salary every 15 days, the money is already allotted to paying our bills. In order to save, I also pay myself in the bank. To further cut the cost of our spending, we bring our own food for breakfast and we buy our lunch from the mini eatery near our office. :) We also try to lessen the use of air conditioner in our room and ask our family members to unplug the appliances when not in use.

Christmas is almost here and we have to look for gifts for our loved ones.  It’s really hard to think of a unique gift specially if the person means so much to you. I might be considering of buying my dad a pair of eyeglasses for Christmas because his is already too old for him. A friend of mine told me that I can get cheap eyeglasses from Zenni Optical for as low as $8! Isn’t that a great deal?! What makes their prices competitive is because they manufacture their own frames and sell it directly to their customers! You can choose from a wide variety of eyeglasses to fit your own style. This will definitely help me manage my finances for Christmas! :)

I just read this today and was shocked that Sunflower crackers (Blueberry Cream Sandwich) is found to be positive of Melamine in Hong Kong! This news was published last October 26, 2008.

Based from GMAnews.tv,

A Philippine-made biscuit product tested positive for melamine in Hong Kong, the Chinese territory’s Centre for Food Safety (CFS) disclosed Saturday.

The CFS website said Croley Foods Sunflower Crackers (Blueberry Cream Sandwich) was found to contain 3.2 parts per million (ppm) melamine.

“We have informed the food trade of the test results and asked them to stop selling the products with unsatisfactory results. We have also sent warning letters to the retailers and the importers concerned. The CFS will take out prosecution if there is sufficient evidence,” it said in a press statement.

The sample tested was a big pack (270 grams) containing 10 small individual packs, with expiry date Dec. 5, 2008. The level of melamine detected was 3.2 ppm.

CFS said the Philippine-made biscuit product was one of two food products found “unsatisfactory” during tests for melamine.

Croley Foods Sunflower Crackers, with its sales and marketing office located in Novaliches, Quezon City, exports cracker, biscuits and cookies under several trade names to Asia and other countries. Its major brand is Sunflower Crackers.

The other was Select Fresh Brown Eggs (Extra Large, 6 Pieces, wiwth Expiry Date: Oct. 25, 2008). The level of melamine detected was 4.7ppm.

Under Hong Kong’s Harmful Substances in Food (Amendment) Regulation 2008, the legal limit for melamine in the concerned products is 2.5ppm.

On the other hand, the CFS said the US Food and Drug Administration said the safety reference value (tolerable daily intake) for melamine is 0.63mg per kg of body weight per day.

For children under the age of three years, who are more sensitive to melamine, the TDI for melamine is 0.32mg per kg of body weight per day.

“On the sample of ‘Croley Foods Sunflower Crackers (Blueberry Cream Sandwich)’ which was detected with a melamine level of 3.2 ppm, the spokesman said a child weighing 10kg (about three years old) would have to eat about 1kg (about 4 big packs, i.e. 37 small individual packs) of the product a day to reach the TDI. An adult with average body weight of 60kg would need to consume about 11.81kg (about 44 big packs, i.e. 437 small individual packs) of the product a day before reaching the TDI,” the CFS said.

“Based on the levels detected, people are advised to stop consuming the products concerned,” the CFS spokesman added.

So far, these are the four products found positive for Melamine:

  1. Greenwood Yili Fresh Milk (in Chinese character)
  2. Jolly Cow Slender High Calcium Low Fat Milk (more Calcium and Vitamin D) 1 Liter
  3. Lotte B&W Koala Biscuit, Lotte Chocolate & Strawberry Snack Koala Biscuit
  4. Mengniu Drink (in Chinese character).

Nicole was supposed to practice swimming this afternoon in my hubby’s cousin’s subdivision. Unfortunately, she was so cranky and doesn’t want to sleep. She had her afternoon nap from 4pm - 6pm so we were not able to push through with the plan.

While she was sleeping, my hubby and I watched the new Knight Rider movie which is the prequel of the new series. It explains how Mike ended up being the Knight Rider.

When Nicole woke up at 6pm, she cried and I offered milk which she hungrily accepted! :)

Since we were not able to go to the cemetery, we (my hubby, Nicole and I) went to Trinoma instead. It seems like it’s not a holiday because there are also a lot of people in the mall. If the cemeteries are full, so does malls! One possible reason also is because of Landmark’s 3-day sale! Even if they’re on sale, the stuffs that we bought are not! :( We bought a bottle brush cleaner since the previous one is already useless.

And this flat bed trolley to help us carry all of our items for our bazaar! This would really save us a lot of time and effort! :) As I’ve seen with other bazaaristas who joined!

A lot of us didn’t know that All Saints’ Day was originally celebrated every May 13 (which had itself been the date of a pagan holiday, the Feast of the Lemures). It wasn’t until Popes Gregory III and Gregory IV moved it to November 1 instead.

All Saints’ Day in the Philippines is very well celebrated. A lot of people went to visit their departed loved ones but all cemeteries are jam packed! I wasn’t able to visit my grandparents’ tomb because I had to report for work. But my hubby’s family went to Laguna to pay their respect.

It was also reported that there are 14 kids who were separated from their parents due to the huge amount of people going in and out of North Cemetery.

My hubby and I brought Nicole in our office today to participate in our annual trick or treat! This would be her first time to attend such activity. As much as I want to buy her a halloween costume, there’s no available size for her so I just bought her wings with a wand and a clip. :)

HAPPY HALLOWEEN! :)

I didn’t get the chance to update my blog over the weekend because I’ve been busy with our bazaar. This is our first time to join and I find it really tough! From buying the things that you can sell up to checking out your inventory is hard work! Things that go in between are setting up your booth, attending to customers and packing your things at the end of the day. I won’t say we failed our first attempt because our net profit is just break even. I’d rather take it as a learning experience and a challenge. :) This won’t stop me from joining another one this coming December 20-21! So please do come. :)

Lessons learned:

  • Look for things that are unique. It’s not always the price that people look at.
  • Check out if you have competitors around the area and scout for their prices.
  • Have a wide range of products available.
  • As much as possible, don’t want to spend your profit for food. So bring your own!

Hopefully, next year we’ll have our own product line!
