After 2 months of being a full time mom, I have to go back to work whether I like it or not! Since I’m so determined to breastfeed my baby, I have to train Nicole on bottle feeding. Being a first time mom, I asked myself the following questions before going back to work.

  1. How would I know if I stored enough milk?
  2. How many hours/days should I keep my expressed breast milk?
  3. Where should I keep my expressed milk while I’m in the office?

Almost all of the answers can be found in Kellymom’s site. These are the two things that really helped me:

Avent ISIS manual breast pump

Taken from Avent website:

With the help of the ISIS Breast Pump you can express your milk quickly and comfortably into AVENT Feeding Bottles or VIA pre-sterilised Cups for storage in the fridge or freezer. That way, someone else can give the occasional feed, and if you go back to work, your baby can still benefit from your breast milk.

The ISIS Breast Pump has been universally acclaimed by women and health professionals for the revolutionary natural design, which makes it gentler and more effective than any other pump available.

Playtex Fridge-To-Go bag

Taken from Playtex website:

The Fridge To Go® Bottle Tote is a lightweight, collapsible tote that keeps bottles, liquids (including breast milk), and foods cool. Fridge To Go® Bottle Totes are available in two sizes – totes that carry one or two bottles.

The double-bottle tote keeps liquids fresh for up to 12 hours and folds for easy freezer storage. Its built-in, award-winning cooling technology will keep your bottles cool up to three times longer than ordinary bottle totes.

– Never struggle with ice or cold packs for your bottles again

– Easy to carry and easy to clean

– Freeze, fill, and go!

Nicole constantly feed every 2 hrs. so two weeks before I go back to the office I let Nicole get used to the bottle. I’m asking my father-in-law or our maid to bottle feed Nicole using my expressed breast milk because based from what I’ve read, it’s a no-no for a mom to bottle feed her own baby because babies will have a difficulty taking the bottle if they feel/know that their moms’ around. And what do you know… It’s true! :)
