The Ark - Avilon Zoo

Last June 15, ‘09, our family went to The Ark – Avilon Zoo in Tiendesitas, Ortigas. This is not the same as the Avilon Zoo found in Montalban, Rizal. This is Nicole’s first trip to the zoo so we’re all excited!

When we arrived there, Nicole was still sleeping so we took our lunch first in Blue Whale. Unfortunately, we are not satisfied with the food. They have very small serving so it’s not worth the price!

We went to the zoo after eating, just in time that Nicole is awake! She was very excited with all of the animals specially with the tiger, leopard and the orangutan! We also tried feeding the rabbits and hamsters! Warning: Be careful for  animal bites if you’re wearing slippers! Boy! Those little creatures are really hungry. As if they haven’t eaten for years! :) They finisehed eating a piece of carrot within1-2 mins.!

We were just in time for the orangutan picture taking so we used our camera and the trainer took this pic for us! The good thing is it’s FREE. :p

After our experience with Eastwood’s Ultra 7 cinema, we tried Trinoma’s 3D Digital Cinema! We enjoyed Ice Age 1 & 2 so now, we can’t miss part 3 of this movie! :)

Before you enter, they will give you 3D glasses, which will make your movie viewing more enjoyable! The movie itself was hilarious! Plus the experience of watching it in 3D makes you think as if you can touch the characters! ;) Just be sure you give the glasses back!

While I’m searching the net, I grabbed these pictures from Animetric’s blog. We weren’t able to sit on the reclining chairs on the top row ‘coz I didn’t know they have one. I think watching the movie from the regular seats is just the same than the one on top.

Converting cinema 4 is a nice move for Trinoma, since SM malls already have IMAX! I still haven’t tried IMAX and Gateway’s Platinum cinema. Will surely try those next time! :) For Php 300 you can get a different movie experience! So try it here and see the difference. :)

It’s such a great coincidence because the last movie that we watched in a theatre was Transformers 1! :)

Watching in Ultra 7 is quite pricey (Php 401/ticket) but the ambience is superb! You get to sit in their purple lazy boy’s reclining chair plus  unlimited drinks and popcorn! Unfortunately, they only have sodas & water for the drinks and have 3 popcorn flavors (plain, cheese and bbq). Honestly, we didn’t eat that much popcorn because we’re too engrossed watching the movie!

After watching, we took our dinner in The Old Vine by: Chef’s Quarters. We ordered for soup of the day (vegetable soup), french onion soup (not recommended), Churrasco Beef tenderloin, roasted chicken and  ube cheesecake for dessert!

Even if my hubby was not satisfied with the story, I would say the movie was awesome! It has great graphics and special effects though I have to admit the acting is not that good… :p

I’m so excited and I can’t wait for November 25 to come. That would be the day where we will go to Coron, Palawan! I’m going with my hubby, our baby (Nicole) and my in-laws! I actually started packing last night. (LOL, not so excited huh?!) I’m actually like that every time we will go somewhere because I don’t want to miss anything! Hopefully our baby will cooperate and will not do any tamtrums! :) She’s on the stage of separation anxiety but since my MIL will be with us, I hope all of us will still have a great time! This would be my baby’s first time to travel at a long distance and first time to ride a plane! I don’t know what would be her reaction. Based from what I’ve read, in order to minimize the pain of ear pressure for our babies, we should give them something to suck with like nurse them during take off and landing.

These are the things that I have packed for my baby:

  • Lots of toys to keep them entertained.
  • Dr. Edward’s water (around 10 bottles)
  • traveling spoon, fork and cup
  • first aid kid (thermometer, band aid, gauze, micro pore tape, betadine, hydrogen peroxide,
  • medicines/ointment (Tempra, Pedialyte, drapolene, hydrocortisone)
  • Banana boat baby block sunscreen lotion SPF 50
  • insect repellant
  • lots of diapers
  • rashguard / waterproof shoes
  • onesies / hat

The last time we went there was 2 years ago when we bought our snorkeling gears (masks and snorkel). This time we went there to look for an underwater camera. Unfortunately, they no longer have the underwater camera with flash. As we browse their shop, we spotted on rashguards, fins and booties. I also showed Sally the snorkeling gear that we bought from them. After around almost 2 hrs. of debating on which one should we buy, we finally decided to buy 1 rashguard for me, booties and fins for my hubby and a bag that can carry all of our snorkeling stuff! I’ve got all of these for Php 6170. Despite the price, we were really satisfied! It’s also a great investment because my hubby and I have long been planning to take diving lessons. We just don’t have the time and cash!

Overall, Divezone has excellent customer service and their products are great! Even if I’ve been there 2yrs. ago, the lady can still remember me and was able to pull up my record in their database! I will definitely go back and recommend this place! They almost have everything that a newbie and professional diver need! From beginner snorkeling gears up to wet suits, regulators and tanks! Since we will be traveling to Coron this coming November, I decided to create my own travel blog so that I could document the places that I’ve been to and at the same time promote Philippine tourism!

Philippines is an archipelago located in Southeast Asia. The 7,107 islands and islets lies between the South China Sea and the Pacific Ocean. Philippines is a picturesque country! We may not be financially rich but we have a diverse ecosystem which means, rich in marine life.  We are known for our best islands like the white sand beach of Boracay in the Visayas, do dolphin watching and climb the Chocolate hills in Bohol, explore St. Paul’s Subterranean River, Tubbataha Reef Marine Park and the awesome view of El Nido in Palawan.

Boy! You really have a lot of things to consider. You have to think of the things that you do everyday and think if you can also do that when you’re in an island!

So far these are the things that I have listed for her:

  • swimwear 
  • hat to keep her shaded
  • toys to keep her entertained
  • overalls (to prevent mosquito bites when we sleep)
  • mosquito repellant
  • 1st aid kit (still thinking of contents…) 
  • diaper rash cream (Drapolene)
  • lots of Dr. Edward’s sterilized water
  • Pedialyte in case she’ll have diarrhea
  • lots of diapers and wipes
  • resealable plastic bags
  • plastic bags for her soiled nappies
  • Her own food (potatoes, carrots, etc.)
  • baby carrier (still thinking of buying ‘coz I can’t find the one with the sun shade!)
  • plate, spoon & fork, drinking glass
Since we have a day wherein we will leave Nicole with her grandparents while my hubby and I are on island hopping, I have to leave milk so these are the things that I could think of so I could store expressed breast milk (EBM):

Because of this, we are giving out more than 50,000 seats ABSOLUTELY FREE, and only available online. Fly for absolutely Php 0 (ALL-IN) without any check in bags. Seat Sale starts Sept. 19 – 21, 2008!

When I received this SMS from Cebu Pacific yesterday, I hurriedly checked out their site and tried to look for an available date which has ALL – IN ZERO fare! I’ve always wanted to go to EL-Nido or Coron, Palawan because we missed that when we went to Puerto Princesa last year for our honeymoon. I was about to give up as I cheked out the free flights to Busuanga on my preferred date. Then when I selected November 25 – 29, viola! November 25 (MLA – Busuanga) is free and Nov. 29 (Busuanga-MLA) is just Php 4 + tax! I immediately booked our flight and it’s just Php 6302! This consists of a round-trip fare from MLA-Busuanga-MLA for 4 adults (me, my hubby, MIL, FIL, baby Nicole)! If it’s not for the Php 250/pax insurance and choice of seats of Php 200/pax, our fare would just be Php 4502!

Coron is part of the Calamian Group of Islands. Other islands includes Busuanga (largest island in the Calamian Group) and Culion (former leprosy segregation camp).

Coron Bay is one of the most famous wreck diving destinations of the entire world due to the amount of historic sunken ships which can be visited and seen with great clarity due to these area’s waters usual transparency.

I can’t wait for November 25! :)
